Additionally, you will have the chance to take part in cross-disciplinary and/or inter-professional learning opportunities with other members of the care and service team, such as a licenced practical nurse, a registered nurse, or a social service worker. During times of incapacitation, recuperation, or family upheaval, you will play a crucial part in providing care and company for people and families. What You Will Learn In The Labs
The PSW accelerated programme includes a fully hands-on lab where students practise typical PSW tasks such as household management, assisting with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene, administering medications, feeding, performing bedside and personal care, assisting with mobility, increasing the clients’ safety, and relying on the prior knowledge of healthcare areas that the students have.
PSW accelerated students will also complete externships in a business environment. The involves spending 155 hours in facilities and community settings while being closely supervised by a clinical instructor.
What You Will Do During Career Search
Upon completion of the program, graduates may find employment as a Personal Support Worker,
Personal Care Attendance, Live-in Caregiver or a Residential Support Worker and may find employment
in:
